Enduro ABEC 5 Angular Contact (A/C) bearings are specifically designed for hubs. In a standard cartridge bearing (radial), only 3 or 4 balls are in contact with the race when the bearing is loaded. In an angular contact bearing, all balls are in contact, spreading the forces over a larger area to reduce friction and minimize wear. The clearance can be adjusted to make the wheel more stable and facilitate disc brake adjustment while allowing the wheel to spin freely.
Enduro Bearing ABEC 5 bearings differ in several levels of sealing
- “2RS” has 2 rubber seals on each side for the highest protection available.
- “LLB” is a double-lip, low-contact labyrinth seal bearing.
- “LLU” is a medium contact double lip seal labyrinth groove bearing.
- “MAX” is a bearing that has no retainer cage, but a specific filling slot for the connecting rods allowing a 35% higher load resistance, so they are particularly recommended for rear suspension pivots, bottom brackets or anywhere else where a standard bearing wears out prematurely.
